Recognition

Pillsbury House Theatre has achieved new levels of success and recognition.  Highlights include the Breaking Ice program receiving a Leading Lights Diversity Award from the National Multicultural Institute; securing a commission to create an original performance in collaboration with participants from all areas of our programming for the Minneapolis MOSAIC festival; celebrating 10 years of Late Nite with performances by many of the artists who have developed new work there; and engaging a broad community in difficult discourse about mental illness through the presentation of LOW.   LOW made the Best Of 2007 lists in the Pioneer Press and City Pages and received the Outstanding Theatrical Event citation in the Star Tribune. In addition, the 2007 Mainstage production of Home received notice from the Star Tribune for Outstanding Play, Smaller Theaters as well as Outstanding Director, Actor and Actress.  Also in 2007, Pillsbury House Theatre launched a new commissioning program. PHT and the Guthrie Theater have co-commissioned playwright Tracey Scott Wilson to write a new play that will be co-developed by the two theaters.
