Oak Park Center
is focused on the communal spirit of North Minneapolis. For years, Oak Park has been a focal point of the neighborhood where people can come together to experience culturally enriching programs, access resources, and seek viable solutions toward the creation of a better and safer neighborhood.
Oak Park services are offered at three North Minneapolis locations:
Oak Park Neighborhood Center
is located at 1701 Oak Park Avenue North. Oak Park offers programming in all six Pillsbury United Communities areas of focus. Facilities at Oak Park include a newly-remodeled industrial-sized kitchen; large multi- purpose room; computer lab; and classroom and meeting spaces. A hub of activity in North Minneapolis, Oak Park promotes community involvement and growth for all individuals 1 to 100.
PUC Interpreting Agency
operates out of NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 1313 Penn Avenue North.
Pillsbury
United Communities and Hennepin County have built a unique partnership
that allows Pillsbury United Communities’ staff to be housed at the
clinic to offer additional assistance to patients. Services provided
to patients by Pillsbury United Communities’ staff include medical
interpretation, enrollment in health insurance plans, preparation for
citizenship, legal assistance, and referrals to other organizations.
Employing Partners in Community (EPIC)
is Pillsbury United Communities’ third North Minneapolis location.
EPIC provides day training and habilitation services (DTH) and Supported
Employment Services (SES) for persons who have developmental
disabilities. EPIC offers vocational and non-vocational services, with
an emphasis on community integration, community enrichment and
community employment. Promoting lasting friendships and preventing isolation that often occurs in the underserved populations of adults with developmental disabilities.
