Brian Coyle Center Civic Engagement

citizenship.jpgCivic engagement can take many forms, from individual volunteerism to organizational involvement to electoral participation. It can include efforts to directly address an issue, work with others in a community to solve a problem, or interact with the institutions of representative democracy. The following are some of the forms through which residents can be involved in civic engagement:

  • Advisory Councils/Committees: Food Shelf Advisory Committee, Coyle Resident Advisory Council, Community Health Advisory Council
  • Community Forums: Program planning and evaluation forums, Candidate forums
  • Events: Multicultural Dinner, Women’s Night Out, National Night Out, Cedar-Riverside Health Fair, and National Crime Victims’ Rights Awareness Week;
  • Voter Registration and Engagement
