Adult Education/Urban Opportunities
Helping adults prepare for and secure employment is a core service of Pillsbury United Communities. Our Neighborhood Centers offer numerous career preparation and assistance services.
Oak Park Center and Waite House offer Urban Opportunities, a program to assist participants in making career plans, developing 21st Century job search skills, and finding employment. Activities include developing resumes, learning to complete online applications, and developing interview skills. Staff works with participants to obtain initial job placement and to advance along career tracks. Even after a job is secured, we continue to work with participants to ensure that they remain on a path to self-sufficiency. The Centers also offer information sessions with representatives of various industries and training programs.
The Adult Education Program at Brian Coyle Center offers classes in English Language Learning and basic computer skills to help adults prepare for the workplace.
The Camden Neighborhood Center focuses on adults with disabilities through the EPIC program.
In addition, all our centers provide tax preparation assistance and career consultation.
Finally, because we know that self-sufficiency requires more than simply skills training, Pillsbury House + Theatre makes their professional, high-quality performances accessible to everyone through pick-your-price tickets for all performances. Pillsbury United Communities believes that nurturing creativity is an essential element of adult education and job placement.
