About The Caring Tree

Rosedale Center, Pillsbury United Communities & Borders are partnering up once again this year through a program called The Caring Tree to provide inner-city youth with the supplies they need to start the school year. Pillsbury United Communities has identified families who need assistance in purchasing school supplies and clothing for their children, and they have created shopping lists for each of these families.

From August 3 – 20, shoppers at Rosedale can “adopt” these children by purchasing the supplies on their list. Pillsbury United Communities will then distributes the supplies anonymously.

The Caring Treeis a state-wide program dedicated to helping give the children of Minnesota the tools they need to succeed in school. Shopping centers throughout the state partner with a social service agency serving the community in which they do business. Since its inception in 1993, The Caring Tree has served more than 60,000 students in Minnesota. In addition to the supplies purchased through the Caring Tree, Borders will donate 20-25% of all book sales at the “Meet the Authors” event to Pillsbury United Communities!
